Old Posts and Praises

So many of my old followers may know that I have had this blog for a LONG time! I've experimented with it and changed it at least 4 times over, starting again and again. Each time with completely new aims and ideas... but it was the reason I got accepted into AMFI and also the reason I was featured in the online DISFunkshion Magazine all those years back.

I used to do styling shoots using my sister as the model with surprisingly great outcomes. Unfortunately I have lost most of the images from these shoots but the image above is a one taken by myself that was featured on the online magazine. I also took images of myself wearing clothes from (at the time) less well-known brands that e-mailed me about my posts and often asked me to join their blogging groups and competitions. Below are some of my old outfit posts, some of which are still available on the blog today!

If it wasn't for this blog I don't think I would be living in Amsterdam right now studying in one of the top fashion schools in the world. I'm glad I was inspired to start the blog again and this time it's here to stay!

Love,
Rachel

Groos - Rotterdam

Music, fashion, interior, food - Groos sells everything. Focusing on fresh talents who originate from Rotterdam it still houses a vast variety of different products in it's stylish shop with a warehouse atmosphere. For new Rotterdam designers Groos offers a great opportunity to get their products on the shelf and out to a wide audience next to other designers with the same roots. It's a really interesting concept and a one that has worked for over 2 years now. The collection of creatives has expanded so that even just on the website alone you can find over 150 makers, each with completely different visions and products.

There is a real sense of pride within Groos unlike many other shops. With such a strong pride of the Rotterdam heritage it draws you into the products to have a personal connection. You really feel like you are supporting a cause, an actual person behind the designs which is a feeling you don't usually get when shopping nowadays.

All the designs are entirely unique, many sustainable and naturally produced or handmade. It's a completely refreshing display of quirky, new ideas with ideal price tags.

& designshop - Rotterdam

I've decided to create a segment on my blog highlighting fascinating and unique concept stores I find in Amsterdam and other places I travel to. Today I'm looking at the & designshop in Rotterdam.

&, the creation of Dutch designers Elwin & Nynke, is an incredibly diverse store representing young talented designers as well as products designed and created by themselves. The high quality products feature everything from hand made jewelry to modern furniture.

Their embracing of the new designers and the friendly welcome you receive as soon as you walk into the store immediately gives you a homely feel which is only emphasized even more with the dynamic use of space that makes you want to move the whole store into your own home.

Studio Snowpuppe are another design duo featured in &. Their products are inspired by the Japanese Origami technique. This forms the charismatic design of their lamps which will create compelling lighting for any room.

I cannot stress enough the energetic vibe & gives you. The electric craftsmanship of all the products and the natural materials used throughout the store really connects you back to nature which is a breath of fresh air in this technologically driven world. Maybe I should pack my stuff up and move to the mountains!

I really recommend you to visit this shop if you get the chance to and dive into Elwin & Nynke's vitalizing world.

Reboot, Revamp, Restart

Hello everyone! I'm back!

After a long, long time I have finally decided to give my blog a face lift and restart it all over again (for about the 5th time now). Since my last post in June my world has become a whirlwind that I have been so excited to share with everyone and anyone.

In August I got accepted into the Amsterdam Fashion Institute and moved to Amsterdam 3 days after which has been an absolutely incredible experience so far, despite the exhausting workload. Amsterdam is such a beautiful place to live with unique shopping and lifestyle experiences that have inspired me so much that I felt I needed to share them with you.

The content of my blog will now include everything from fascinating, unique shops/cafes/markets that you can find in the hidden corners of Amsterdam to the inspiring people on the streets. I also want to keep you updated with the travelling I get up to when I get the chance and all the work I produce at AMFI.

I hope you will follow me on this journey of exploration and discoveries!
