CHECK MATE - OOTD

The check pattern is one of my all time favourite trends. I practically live in any kind of checkered item so when I saw these statement trousers, from daisystreet.co.uk I fell in love! Not only are they super, super affordable (only £17.99) but they are amazing quality! The peek-a-boo lace detail at the bottom, I think, ties them together. I never usually settle for trousers, as I'm quite fussy about the shape and length of them, so these were kind of a one-off  purchase for me. I always find that when buying cigarette or tapered style trousers that they do not flatter my figure and they adrubtly stop before my ankles which is something I have never been keen on for some reason. However these trousers finished with the lace which makes them perfect for heels and the legs are skinny so they flatter my shape.

Due to these being statement trousers it means you can put simple accessorys together as well as a basic top which is how I have carried out this outfit. I didn't want to take the focus off the trousers so a basic, baby pink Primark top and a cream woven clutch bag went perfectly to create a classy evening outfit! For a daytime outfit they would go perfectly with an oversized, black jumper and studded flats, for an edgey look. I love the fact that these trousers can be worn for any setting as they are comfortable yet smart, a statement piece adaptable for any occasion.

Peek-a-boo lace that ties the trousers together!

I really do recommend checking out Daisy Street if you haven't already as they have such a huge range of affordable and stylish clothes perfect for updating your Summer wardrobe!

Thank you for reading, until next time...

Outfit Of The Week - Urban Decay

See picture on my Instagram - @rachel_doug (Topshop vintage bomber jacket, Ramones T-shirt, Black converse)

Whilst out taking photographs for my A Level art project- Urban Decay- I came across hidden beautiful places. Places, I'm guessing, only few stumble upon! The graffiti wall featured in these pictures, for example, was stumbled upon when driving down a back street while I was lost in a neighbourhood. It was a single wall next to someone's garage, practically untouched.
These are some of the photos I took on the day. I want to focus on the stories behind the pictures. Houses caught up in fires and abandoned buildings where amongst the findings. Each picture tells its own story.
By the way check out the article written about my blog last year... http://dfsmag.com/notoriouss-rachel/

My Mood Board of Motivation

I love, love, love making mood boards! They are so much fun, and really help to inspire you! Especially when you're starting and developing a project idea. Usually my mood boards have so much crammed into them that I end up having to be really selective which is difficult for me because I find beauty and inspiration in anything and everything.

I have made motivational mood boards before, when my career aims kept changing or as I grew older different things stood out to me! My most memorable motivation mood board is the one I made  on my cupboard door. I made it when I was 15. It has torn up pages from magazines, pictures of my friends and I as well as my own drawings and designs! The idea was that every morning I would wake up and be immediately motivated everyday. However, it only lasted about 2 months as I always find something better to motivate myself with.

This time though, I get to share my motivation mood board with you! Not only to keep me motivated for the next few months but I also hope that it may help motivate some of you to achieve your dreams.

Fashion Capitals of the World - New York, Paris, London, Milan, Rome
1. I want to travel to all of the fashion capitals and then I want to have a shop in every single one. Dreaming big to say the least, haha!

2. Central Saint Martins is the university in London where I want to go after my Art Foundation. It's one of the best schools of design! Everything I do at the moment is aiming towards getting into this uni.

From left: Emily, Me, Sophie
3. My friends, sometimes, help to motivate me. Most of the time they are just out to distract me!

4. My mum is one of my main motivations! When I am feeling down or when I simply feel like I just can't be bothered she is always there to get me back on my feet. Even if she is just nagging it usually works.

5. I love motivational quotes. "Stop Wishing, Start Doing" is my fave one at the moment. It's completely relate-able and completely describes me. I am constantly day dreaming about what I want to do or what I want to get done but never actually get round to actually doing it.

Zuhair Murad and Elie Saab as well as some fashion illustrations
6. Fashion illustrations power me for some reason! I always want to be as good as the people who have drawn them so I draw some more and keep going until I am nearly as good as them.

7. Zuhair Murad and Elie Saab are my favourite designers ever. Ever since wanting to be a designer they have always been in my mind as what I want to make and produce and be like. They are completely my ideal area!

8. Coco Chanel has always inspired me. I have watched every documentary you can think of about her. She practically built her life from nothing. She an inspiration for everyone!

9. Finally, Bip Ling! Now which fashion blogger couldn't have her as one of their inspirations. One of the biggest bloggers in the world, I aspire to have a blog like hers and wouldn'd be able to think of anyone else!

I hope this has motivated and inspired all of you as much as it does for me! Let me know what motivates you and why below! I love discovering all the different things that inspire people. It tells me so much about a person.

Splish, Splosh, Splash - Flower Crowns

They are everywhere aren't they? I still need to grab one for myself! Might get the DollyBowBow one to splish out seeing as I am low on money this month. These are A-mazing for festivals though! Get a huge bunch of them if you have a load of festivals to go to this Summer.

Everyone remember to start following me on Bloglovin or any other sites to keep up with me seeing as though Google Reader will soon be gone!

See you next week!

Thanks,

I Just Can't Get Enough Of...

My Luciano Barachini Boots

These beautiful boots are last season Luciano Barachini and they are hardly ever off my feet! I bought them around Easter time on a family holiday to St.Tropez. They were the best find ever, as we happened to walk past a shop selling them and I fell in love with them! AND they were on sale!

Best find ever (Instagram picture @rachel_doug)

When I bought these boots I wasn't all too familiar with Barachini so I checked out more of the designs... It's fair to say I fell in love with this brand even more!

Such a talented shoe designer that deserves a lot of recognition!

Do you agree? Let me know who your favourite, unrecognised shoe designer is!

Thanks,
Rachel xo

Notoriouss Rachel Is Back!

Hi everyone!

I am finally back! After months of AS level exam prep and a busy year getting my portfolio together to apply for University, I have made my return and this time I hope to be bigger and better than ever.

So what has happened since I have last been blogging...

Well:
  • I started and finished my AS level courses including Philosophy, Business Studies, Fine Art and English Language.
  • I went to Florida, America for Christmas with my family which was really exciting because it was the first time I had been to America and I got to go to Universal Studios Orlando to see Harry Potter World!
  • I am firmly set on doing an art foundation course at Newcastle College next year and then I would ideally like to go to either London or Paris to study Fashion at Uni!
  • I got a little Bengal kitten called Poppy who will definitely be featured in a styling post as she is so beautiful.
  • My old blog was featured in DisFunkshion Magazine!
Miami Dolphins Game

Yes, it has been a pretty exciting year for me and it doesn't stop yet! I think I may have one of my busiest years this year and I apologise in advance if I struggle to keep on top of things!

Here's what is coming up in my life at the moment:
  • I am about to start my final year in Sixth Form, doing my A levels - English Language, Business Studies and Fine Art.
  • I have to start applying for Uni courses
  • Getting together a strong Fashion portfolio which I will keep you up to date on!
  • A weeks Fashion Design Summer school at Central Saint Martins in London (which I am uber excited about)
  • Lots and lots of parties - summer parties, house parties, family parties, you name it.
  • And, finally a 3 week holiday travelling up the coast of Italy and then to my Grandparents house in the South of France with my friend.
So yes, an extremely busy year so far and I plan to keep you up to date with everything I do, wear and create memories from!

I really do hope you enjoy reading my posts in the upcoming weeks and if you do give me a follow! Every week I plan to update you on all my outfit choices as well as a weekly Sunday post that you are sure to enjoy!

Every week I am planning on doing a little suggestion of 3 items of clothing that you should either buy if your skint, to treat yourself or to fully splash out and here is my first one...

Splish, Splosh, Splash - Bikini Bazaar

Be beach ready in a brightly coloured bikini. Your sure to catch eyes with these popping colours!

It's AMAZING to be back and I know it's going to be the best year ever this year! I hope you will join me on the rollercoaster.

Thanks,
Rachel xo
