The Original 80s Fashion Students

Hi everyone!
I have to admit I am writing this really early into the week because I have an extra busy week so I am getting a head start.
I was also super excited to write this post! My mum went down to London last weekend to meet up with her friends from University. After telling me about her weekend, all weepy eyed about leaving them again, she showed me some of the photos they shared with each other. This gave me inspiration for a Sunday Post! They went to Newcastle Polytechnic in 1985 to study Fashion and Marketing.
The pictures were so beautiful and very retro and I thought it would be lovely to share them with you all!
Dressing up like Madonna: Picture on left (from left) Sarah, Debbie, Mum (Marie),

It's amazing to see some proper retro photos! Not only does it also make you feel like you wanted to be back in those "good old days" but the fashions back then can really inspire how you dress now! I have looked at ways in which anyone, in nowadays, could "get their style." Check out my vintage-style outfit inspirations below!

Look like Sarah and let your outfit pop with neon coloured leggings!
Strut it like Madonna in a velvet power suit and chunky jewellery like Debbie is doing here.
Or stand out from the crowd like my Mum in her suspenders...?
I have added some little extras in case you were still in the mood for inspiration!
I hope these pictures and some outfit ideas have helped inspire you! They have certainly inspired me! Just by looking at these photos I have learnt a lot about fashion in the 80s and lots of ways in which I can apply them to my own fashion now!

Splish, Splosh, Splash - Funky Bodysuits

This week on Splish, Splosh, Splash check out the funkiest bodysuits on the rails right now! From shorts to maxi skirts, these beauts go with anything!

I hope you have enjoyed my post this week! Let me know if you have been inspired by any old photos and how they inspired you in the comments below.

Thanks,
Rachel xo

Notoriouss Rachel Is Back!

Hi everyone!

I am finally back! After months of AS level exam prep and a busy year getting my portfolio together to apply for University, I have made my return and this time I hope to be bigger and better than ever.

So what has happened since I have last been blogging...

Well:
  • I started and finished my AS level courses including Philosophy, Business Studies, Fine Art and English Language.
  • I went to Florida, America for Christmas with my family which was really exciting because it was the first time I had been to America and I got to go to Universal Studios Orlando to see Harry Potter World!
  • I am firmly set on doing an art foundation course at Newcastle College next year and then I would ideally like to go to either London or Paris to study Fashion at Uni!
  • I got a little Bengal kitten called Poppy who will definitely be featured in a styling post as she is so beautiful.
  • My old blog was featured in DisFunkshion Magazine!
Miami Dolphins Game

Yes, it has been a pretty exciting year for me and it doesn't stop yet! I think I may have one of my busiest years this year and I apologise in advance if I struggle to keep on top of things!

Here's what is coming up in my life at the moment:
  • I am about to start my final year in Sixth Form, doing my A levels - English Language, Business Studies and Fine Art.
  • I have to start applying for Uni courses
  • Getting together a strong Fashion portfolio which I will keep you up to date on!
  • A weeks Fashion Design Summer school at Central Saint Martins in London (which I am uber excited about)
  • Lots and lots of parties - summer parties, house parties, family parties, you name it.
  • And, finally a 3 week holiday travelling up the coast of Italy and then to my Grandparents house in the South of France with my friend.
So yes, an extremely busy year so far and I plan to keep you up to date with everything I do, wear and create memories from!

I really do hope you enjoy reading my posts in the upcoming weeks and if you do give me a follow! Every week I plan to update you on all my outfit choices as well as a weekly Sunday post that you are sure to enjoy!

Every week I am planning on doing a little suggestion of 3 items of clothing that you should either buy if your skint, to treat yourself or to fully splash out and here is my first one...

Splish, Splosh, Splash - Bikini Bazaar

Be beach ready in a brightly coloured bikini. Your sure to catch eyes with these popping colours!

It's AMAZING to be back and I know it's going to be the best year ever this year! I hope you will join me on the rollercoaster.

Thanks,
Rachel xo

P.S. If you have any post ideas you would like me to do just comment below as I am open to any ideas people suggest!
